About Us

The Bellefonte Playschool of Faith United Methodist Church, a state licensed and faith based preschool, is dedicated to fostering the growth of the students in our program in the following areas through caring and individualized instruction and support:

• Academics for Kindergarten Readiness

• Sense of Self

Socialization- We believe that learning to socialize, through play and other school interactions is an important milestone for preschool aged children. Socializing helps children in the development of language, learning the skills needed to share and work together, and developing respect for those around them. 

Faith and Character- We believe that faith and character building provide an important foundation for future success. We encourage the building of faith through prayer and natural inclusion of the presence of God in all that we do and learn. Along with that we focus on building important character traits, such as honesty, kindness, generosity and courage. 

Academics for Kindergarten Readiness- Our goal is to send each of our students off to Kindergarten with a love of learning and all of the academic skills they will need to be successful. We believe that each child develops at their own pace and we strive to meet the academic needs of each student, as they are ready, through small group activities and individualized instruction as needed. 

Sense of Self- We believe that preschool is a time when children are starting to gain an understanding of who they are and where they fit in the world around them. We strive to bolster the self-esteem of our students as they start to learn what their strengths are, how to persevere with the things that don’t come as easily, look at their community, family and school and examine how those parts of their life fit together, and examining and accepting similarities and differences between themselves and others.

In providing this strong foundation to our students, it is our hope that they will continue to build upon this solid educational beginning, growing in their faith and citizenship to become adults that will enrich our community for years to come.
